2015-16 Report to the Community online

Cover of our Report to the CommunityOur annual Report to the Community is the Calgary French & International School’s look back at the previous school year’s activities and accomplishments. It is an overview of the highlights of the work that occurred in those twelve months to bring the school’s mission, values, and strategic plan to life.

CFIS’s five-year strategic plan was finalized in May of 2013. Since that time, the members of the school’s leadership team, faculty, staff, volunteers and the CFIS Society Board have utilized the plan’s four-goal framework to further the school’s mission and vision.

CFIS’s strategic plan plots the path that is followed by faculty and staff alike to achieve the mission of developing each student’s individual and academic potential in a rich, dynamic and internationally-focused French immersion learning environment. The plan guides us in our work; it is referenced at all staff and divisional meetings, reported on in detail at each meeting of the CFIS Society Board, and addressed in every employee’s work plan. We see the strategic plan in action within our school’s wide array of academic, artistic and athletic programs.

We could not accomplish our goals without the broad support of our vibrant and proudly multicultural CFIS community. The collective work of our enthusiastic, caring and dedicated teachers, staff members, students, alumni and parents promotes the school’s values and international mindset. We are all part of this community because of a desire to be a part of the school’s international mindset that emphasizes the importance of instilling cultural peace and understanding, and the desire to make our world a better place, one student at a time.

I hope you enjoy this review of the 2015-16 school year. I welcome your questions and comments, and look forward to your involvement in the coming years, as we work to help each CFIS student achieve his or her full and unique potential.

Sincerely,

Mme Margaret Dorrance
Head of School
