CFIS students become knowledgeable in world issues and develop leadership skills to become active global citizens as they learn about new cultures, languages, people and environments. Through safe, unique and enriching cultural experiences abroad, we give them the opportunity to become engaged through authentic volunteer work.
Avoiding food for an entire day may seem like a daunting task, but for students at a Calgary school, it was worth it to help those in need across the world. Students at Calgary French and International School got a lesson in hunger during a 24-hour famine Friday. The student-led initiative was organized to raise awareness and $13,000 to build a school in an adopted village in Nicaragua. As part of the initiative, Grade 6-12 students of the school, at 700 77 St. S.W., are fasting from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m.
