Gr 7-12 Info Nights/Tours
Families interested in our Secondary Division (grade 7 to 12) will benefit from attending one or both of our information sessions in the fall and winter. Families are also welcome to book a private tour, with Mme Kathy Marinakos, Director of Enrolment, to see our wonderful, busy school during the day.
To book a school tour or RSVP for our Secondary Division Interactive Information Session for grades 7 to 12, on January 18, 2017 please click here.
Co-hosted by our Head of School, Mme. Margaret Dorrance, our Principal of Secondary, M. Malcolm Mousseau, and our Assistant Principal of Secondary, Mme Danielle Lamoureux, Information Sessions are a wonderful opportunity to meet school leadership, faculty, learning strategists, and attend an in-depth presentation on the key differentiating factors of a CFIS.
We hope you come away from this session with a clear idea of how the learning experience at CFIS is carefully designed to develop each student’s individual and academic potential through full French immersion, an international focus and the development of the whole student in a rich and dynamic learning environment.
Interactive Information Sessions
The information session in the new year on January 18, 2018, is an active evening where youth and their parents will feel engaged and welcome interacting with their potential teachers-to-be. Families schedule tours on different subjects and have a chance to speak to alumni and students preparing for graduation to hear their candid reflections on CFIS. We will delve into academic results and university preparedness as well as our candidacy as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme School.
At both these events, parent ambassadors greet prospective families and are available to answer questions about their experience at CFIS. Families will receive a full information package of materials to review about the school. Refreshments are provided at all our enrolment events.
Mme Kathy Marinakos, an experienced educator of over 35 years, and our Director of Enrolment, offers tours to families interested in any grade at CFIS. Families will get a chance to watch classrooms in action, tour our facilities and get a sense of the vibrant community spirit within our school community.
Who we are and where we are
The Calgary French & International School is an independent school (also known as a private school) offering open houses and tours. We are located in the SW quadrant of Calgary 15 mins east of downtown. Please find a map to our school here.
As an independent school (private school) there are fees and tuition associated with enrolment at the Calgary French & International School. Students transfer to the Calgary French & International School from other Calgary Board of Education French immersion and Francophone schools, from Rocky View Schools and from French immersion and Francophone schools throughout the world.
Within our French immersion preschool, junior kindergarten, right up to our full-day kindergarten, children do not need any exposure to French and quickly pick-up the language from their teachers. Starting in Grade 1, students need to either come from a French immersion school or from a home environment where French is one of the languages spoken. Students graduate from CFIS as confident self advocates, fluent in three languages and make an incredibly smooth transition into university studies.
