Summer fun, the value of boredom, and deepest gratitude

As I sat down to start this week’s message, I found myself oddly emotional. This is the first year that I have sent a weekly email to all ECE families, and I did not anticipate what an important ritual it would become to close my office door for a little while every Friday, to reflect on my week and communicate with all of you. It is my sincere hope that these weekly notes have been helpful and positive for you, as well.

Bike rodeo, office visitors, and summer reading

Pedal Heads at Calgary French & International SchoolOur kindergarten students all brought their bikes and helmets to school on Tuesday, and participated in the Pedalheads bike rodeo safety program here in our schoolyard. While this program always requires some careful logistics, it is such a rich experience for the students.

Junior kindergarten concert, Grade 6 celebration, and going barefoot

It has been another week full of special celebrations at CFIS. On Thursday morning we hosted our junior kindergarten spring concert, and a particular highlight for me was having the JK partner classes from grades 3 and 6 join our little ones in performing a song, and then stay to help with prop changes and transitions.
