Principals Camirand and Murray's "French Immersion Myths Busted" article for Calgary's Child magazine

A few months ago, Principal of Early Childhood Mme Amy Murray and I collaborated on an article we have been planning to write for some time, on the subject of myths about a French language immersion (FLI) education. Click on the above photo to read the full article.

Wonderful video of the students singing "C'est le droit des enfants"

During the closing ceremonies of last week's UNESCO days, students from preschool to Grade 6 met in the gym to sing a song they had learned over the two days of their UNESCO celebrations. They were accompanied by CFIS's music teachers, with our artist-in-residence on the flute.

The song they learned is, "C'est le droit des enfants", by Dominique Dimey, which translates to, "These are the rights of children".

UNESCO Day and Curt Young

What an amazing two days of UNESCO activities - all relating to the theme of human rights - in our ECE and Elementary Divisions, on February 6th and 7th. Each grade level focused on a different right from the United Nations conventions, such as the rights of a child, and the right to a name, a family, an education, and a safe place to live. The first day started with an inspirational keynote speech and moving musical performance by Curt Young, from the Treaty 5 First Nations. (Click on the photo below to see the video of the two days' activities.)

Video of Grade 5 & 6 Trickster Theatre Residency Week

Trickster Theatre's week-long residency with CFIS's Grades 5 and 6 students was a wonderful way to start 2019, and an eye-opener for these students into the world of drama. Click the image below to view the video:
