Letter from the 2017 CFIS Spring Benefit Chair, Mr. Gord Ellis
Dear fellow CFIS parents,
I am excited to announce that CFIS’s annual Spring Benefit will be held on Saturday, May 6, once again at WinSport’s Markin MacPhail Centre. Please save the date for our school’s foundational fundraising event in support of our children’s education!
We have a fantastic volunteer team working hard to provide another incredible evening of student and professional entertainment, a lovely sit-down, plated meal, dynamic gala games, and our live and silent auctions.
Each year, proceeds from CFIS’s annual gala fundraiser are used to purchase items that benefit our children’s education, above and beyond that which tuition alone can do. Over the past three years, great strides have been made to provide our children with leading-edge technology, enhance their learning environments, and ensure they are receiving the very best educational experience.
For more than a decade, parents, faculty and staff have together donated their time, treasure and talent to raise over $1,000,000 through this annual event to purchase a wide array of school improvements, including raising money for our current school buildings. In the last two years alone you have helped purchase hundreds of computers and carts, robotics equipment, technology and programming tools, and flexible furniture that supports the many different ways our children learn.
The committee once again asks for your support, as we strive to help enrich students’ educational experience at CFIS. There are many ways you can help.

- Attend the Spring Benefit and invite your extended family to join you on this night of celebration in support of our children.

FAQs for the Spring Benefit
When and where should I arrive?
The 2016 Spring Benefit will be held at the Markin MacPhail Multipurpose Room at COP. The cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m. and we highly recommend you arrive early to mingle and view the auction items as it will be a sit-down dinner.
What activities will occur throughout the night?
Hosted by Virgin Radio’s Afternoon Host, Kirsten, guests will be treated to an entertaining night of dinner, dance and an engaging night punctuated with games and entertainment by live bands. Don’t forget to visit the executive functioning tools and ergonomic furniture chill-out area to recharge!
What are the fundraising activities?
The year’s dynamic silent and live auction features over 100 items. Be ready to play Heads & Tails for $20 as a great ice breaker game early in the night to raise money for learning tools within the classroom, along with the Mawer Investments Balloon Pop for $50 for a chance to win WestJet tickets!
Where will the funds raised be directed?
Funds raised for the Spring Benefit will be directed towards acquiring executive functioning tool kits and tools to support students to innovate through technology and enhanced learning spaces.
How can I pay for games, auction winnings and the bar?
It’s recommended to have some cash on hand for games. Credit card payment is available at the bar and cashier table and we can also invoice you afterwards. Payment by cheque and cash help reduce revenue lost to credit card fees.
Please plan ahead if you will be drinking.
