A message from the Chairs of the Foundation and Society Boards of Directors

Dear CFIS Families:

We would like to update the CFIS community on the anticipated summer 2018 parking lot/playing fields development and science lab renovations. On May 3, 2018, the members of the Calgary International Language Foundation, which owns the school and grounds leased to the Calgary French and International School Society, voted unanimously to approve a resolution allowing the Foundation Board to seek mortgage financing, in the amount of $2.3 million, to develop the 4.5 acres of vacant land to the immediate east of the school’s baseball diamond.

In an ideal world, the work would have begun this past summer, however, once we received and reviewed the construction bids, given a number of factors and considering the needs of the School, the Board of Directors of the Foundation, in consultation with the Society Board, determined that it was in the best interests of the school as a whole to hold off on this work until the spring of 2019.

The Society and the Foundation are committed to continuing our significant investments in our facilities and grounds and are working collaboratively towards the next phases in their development. We look forward to construction in 2019.

Stephen Burns (Chair, Calgary International Language Foundation) and
Dr. Dianne Gereluk (Chair, Calgary French & International School Society)
